Steeped in Humility-

Like I toddler, I spent 40 years insistent on doing things my way. I rejected the aid of others and believed that asking for help was an indication of weakness and failure.

Pride and the need for perfection, got in the way of me and God.

So I went it alone… banging my head and trying to fit a squarepeg into a round hole. I worked, I strived, I fought, I resisted and I suffered because of this.

And then the Lord-brought me to my knees…

Through grief, he peeled back the layers of my hardened heart. And through his healing, he gave me eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart that loved. He filled all of the tiny crevices of my heart with compassion and this prepared me to accept his forgiveness and grace.

 Although I was broken, I was humbled…

And as a reformed perfectionist, I was beginning to understand, that I am actually the humbled daughter of a King.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12  NIV

When we are humbled, we become meek and accept our dependence on God. We are put in, a position of need- and a posture of want-that allows us to accept God and HIS holy ways.

When we live with humility, we recognize our need for a greater power, a supernatural power that comes from a grace filled God… who loves and forgives us. His power is majestic in this world and he is sovereign over our lives.

As humble servants, we are called to serve others, just as God serves us, by meeting our human needs.

The humbled person is-able to receive Gods offerings and has a heart that is soft and free of any callouses. You are then able to receive God’s direction, that points you toward HIS Will for your life.

Today, I see the challenges in my life as an opportunity to look to the Lord, in grateful dependence.

Like an herbal tea that gathers flavor when it is steeped, we are blessed with the fruits of the Spirit when we are steeped in humility.

Doses of daily Humility become like a vitamin that strengthen my soul and sharpen my character, allowing me to grow and be transformed into HIS image. He gives meaning to my day and purpose to my existence. The Lords presence is now palpable in my life.

Like the flowers that bloom, I am new in HIM.

Like the grass that sprouts, He has given me new life.

I desire to use this life well by overflowing with grace and love, and pouring into the lives of others.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6  NIV

Do you find yourself striving and toiling, in an effort to direct your own life? Is achieving independent perfection and success your goal? Do you allow this to determine your worth?

Do you accept The Lord as the sovereign authority in your life?

What area of your life would benefit, if you came to a position of humility and accepted the help and guidance of another?

God built us to be-in community and it pleases him to see us serve, and be served.

Faithful followers will become steeped in the blessings of our Lord, as we serve and encourage others, through faithful obedience…

and with humility.
