Tomorrow begins the Lenten period. When I think of Lent, I think of an awaiting, a period of preparation and a time to position my heart for the big event. Lent gives us 40 days to reflect in awe, on the amazing miracle that was performed to give us salvation and forgiveness. Lent is a period of waiting for the greatest gift.
For Jesus is our gift and he is our prize. He comes to us freely and fully to enrich and authenticate our lives.
During other periods of waiting I have worked feverishly to be prepared, Christmas, pregnancy, vacation packing…
And during all of those periods “I did”, “I strived” and “I worked”…
During this period of Lent, “I will rest”. I will take care and comfort in preparing my heart for the Resurrection of Jesus.
I will posture myself to receive his great blessings of freedom and forgiveness from sin, through salvation.
For I know that Jesus is my friend..
He is my provider and my comforter. He wants nothing more than for me to rest in this period of preparation as I receive his greatest blessings.
How will you prepare this Lenten period? Will you dedicate time to prayer, scripture, fasting or good works? God asks for nothing moreu than us to look up and feel his presence through the shinning sun as he casts down his goodness.
Rest my friends, these are the days and we have 40 of them ahead of us to prepare in quiet anticipation.
“I came so that they may have life and have it more abundantly” John 10:10
