Like a shepherd that leads his flock, God goes before us, beckoning and calling us. This Shepard wants nothing more than to protect and care for his sheep. It is my human tendency to go astray and wonder off. When I wonder, I set myself up to be influenced and lead by other “false shepherds”. But… I know my shepherds voice and it takes practice and spiritual discipline to be tuned in for it, while remaining aware of the enemies voices.
When he brought out all of his own, he goes ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. John 10:4
Prayer-Precious Father in Heaven, you are my shepherd and I hear your voice calling. Sometimes I choose not to answer and I am sorry for that. You know how to protect and lead me and often my stubborn pride gets in the way of that. When I begin to stray, pull me in closer before I am swallowed by the wolves. Make your presence so palpable, that I can not deny your leading. Give me the strength to follow you, even when my eyes wander. Keep my heart aligned with your Spirit and bring the comfort of a lambs wool, as you hold me close in your arms.
