By dedicating time in the morning and again in the evening, to speak with God-he becomes the bookends to my day. This practice opens and closes the door to my heart and my day, with my Father alongside me. This quiet time becomes the essence of a life that is lived close to Jesus. God waits for us to invite him in and his heart sings when we end the day by praising and thanking him.
This has not always been my daily practice. this is something that was developed as I suffered during a period of grief. When each day began with chaos and turmoil, I needed the assurance and safety of my Heavenly Father. He gave me encouragement and strength to bare the unimaginable.
I life my eyes up to the mountains-where does my strength come from? My strength comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 12:1-2
Prayer-Precious Father, today I feel lost in a sea of unknown. Today I don’t have a solid sense of who I am or where you desire for me to go. Today I seek You to soothe my ache and give me Your peace. Today I need Your healing for what hurts. Today I seek Your guidance and wisdom to show me the next step. When I feel overwhelmed with all that lies ahead of me each day, remind me to focus only on what is next. Keep me from being overwhelmed. Bring Your grace and peace into every situation. Keep the hand of the enemy out as I feel him stirring trouble.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen
